Moving flammable goods

Moving flammable items such as gasoline and cleaning detergents is something to handle meticulously. You recognize a flammable fluid by the small ‘fire’ icon on the packaging. If you want to move this particular item, we recommend you take the following into consideration:

  1. Moving flammable items
The first tip is the most important: never put flammable goods in a box. If oxygen is released or the item mixes with other fluids, it may increase the chance of an explosion. And that is the last thing on your mind when you are busy handling your removal.
  2. Wrap flammable goods in plastic
To prevent the detergent from mixing with other fluids, we recommend wrapping the items in a plastic bag. Should there be a leek, it will not immediately cause any hazard.
  3. Separate the goods
Separate the flammable goods whilst you are moving. Even if your intentions are good by separating them from the normal goods, please do not create an individual bag containing all these goods together. These goods should not be mixed and it is therefore safest to wrap these items individually, using several separate bags.
  4. Is it almost empty? Throw it away!
Is your cleaning detergent almost empty? Better safe than sorry: just throw it away. You can then be definitely sure it does not cause any problems whilst moving.
  5. Handle with care
Naturally, this information is also on the bottle itself, but be extra careful with children and these types of goods. Especially during your removal, your focus might not always be on the children all the time – and one of these bottles might then be easy to reach.
